English > Akhenaten’s Hymn to the Sun
I. The first day of all lives began when God took his seat up in the Heavens.
God is the Sun itself and it is more beautiful than anything else, rises on
the east and floods the Earth with its light.
II. At night, when the Sun rest on the “western horizon” the darkness covers
everything, and all the good goes to sleep, only the wild animals come out of
their hiding places.
III. And when, in the morning, the Sun rises again, all comes to life, and the
lands are alive again.
IV. Many forms of life are mentioned in this stanza, such as birds and trees,
and of course the herds. They all come alive when the Sun comes up in the
morning.
V. The Sun is responsible for all men and women and for all their crafts and
arts, without it, there would be no life, no offspring.
VI. Without God, there would be no chicks from the egg, there would be no air
for it to breath, he is Almighty.
VII. It is God, who created the world the way he wanted to, he was the one who
filled it with all the creatures just the way he wanted to. He created the
skies and the earth, where birds fly, and where people walk.
VIII. God placed all creatures to their places; each was given their food,
their land and their own looks.
IX. God is responsible for the flood on the Nile, He nourishes the people, and
determines what is going to happen on earth, whether it’s rain or waves.
X. God created the Seasons, he created Summer to ripen the fruit, and the
winter, to give the world some rest. And God created the Heavens where he sits
and watches his creation.
XI. We see how much really God did on earth; he created the cities, towns,
fields and everything else there is. Without Him, there would be no sight, and
no belief in the one Creator.
XII The author finally says that all that he has in his heart is God. It is God, who made life possible, who is actually Time itself. The Sun rises and sets every day, and people come to worship it day by day.
How was God created?
The Sun God is the one who created all the other Gods. His name is Amun, and he appears in a variety of forms or incarnations, including the source of the Nile, or inseminator of the World. He is greater and more powerful than all the other Gods. He takes many life form, yet invisible for al humans.
What is the Pharaoh’s role in this creation?
All the pyramids that were built for the Pharaoh’s contain many of Egypt’s art works, including poems that were written in favor the Gods. Otherwise the Pharaoh has no role in the creation.
