Globalization'a Negative Effects
Failed states: State failure can flow from a nation’s geographical, physical, historical and political circumstances, such as colonial errors and Cold War policy makers. Human agency is also culpable, usually in a fatal way. Destructive decisions by individual leaders have almost always paved the way to state failure. Today’s failed states are incapable of projecting power and asserting territorial authority, leaving their territories governmentally empty. Afghanistan, Sierra Leone, and Somalia are failed states. >>>
Globalization as a Political Force
There are many who on one hand blindly oppose, while others accept the idea of globalization without knowing exactly what it means. It is not an easy task to define its meaning since globalization is more like a compelling force than something simply and objectively classifiable. A widely known definition is that globalization is a global market place of ideas and it leads to the spread of consumerism, furthermore world economies today are designed to satisfy these consumer needs. >>>
Global Challenges
In the second half of the semester we looked at some of the global challenges we have to face today. I will discuss three articles in this paper, beginning with The Future of AIDS by Nicholas Eberstadt. I will then continue with the next subject, which is the question of genocide and mass killing as Benjamin A. Valentino sees it. Anything for a T-shirt
Power is the central idea of political science. Ron Rubin, the author of “Anything for a T-shirt” applies power throughout his story about Fred Lebow and his creation, the New York City Marathon. In my book report I will write about how the New York City Marathon was formed and developed over the years, and I will apply power to Lebow’s role in mass marketing, capturing the keys to the city, squeezing money from sponsors, devising shtick for the marathon, manipulating the media, and assembling an international cast of runners.>>>

Gareth Davies: From Opportunity to Entitlement
The author, Gareth Davis, explains to the reader what opportunity and entitlement means to the American public and what it means to legislators. He illustrates the procedures and hardships a president has to encounter when trying to implement a new or unusual idea. The book shows us how liberalism and liberalistic initiatives, regarding the situation of poverty in the United States, bounced back from Congress over and over. >>>
Labor Unions
In this essay I’ll write about union membership, membership trends, the two types and levels, and the importance of unions. I’ll also discuss some of the negative sides of unionization in today's corporate America.
Labor unions are groups or clubs of workers and employees who bond together to get good conditions, fair pay, and fair hours for their labor. These unions are usually joined together, and most unions in America are some branch of the largest labor union organization in the United States, the AFL-CIO with thirteen million members.>>>
